Role Overview

As a Quantitative Trading Analyst in the Flexibility Optimization product team, you will play a crucial role in designing, enhancing, and monitoring flexibility optimization strategies for our customers. This involves working within a cross-functional team which develops and operates machine learning-powered software products that optimize renewable assets across short-term power markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, deploy, and monitor flexibility optimization strategies.

  • Investigate new meteorological and energy market data sources and generate ideas for machine learning model input features to enhance performance.

  • Improve the validation of new flexibility optimization strategies through our automated backtesting framework.

  • Analyze new markets to support the geographical expansion of our optimization products.

  • Design and prototype new optimization products or features.

  • Monitor and report on energy markets to identify trends impacting product performance.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to design, build, and validate machine learning-based forecasting and optimization models.

  • Work with software engineers to transition research results into production.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial environment, with at least 2 years of relevant domain experience.

  • Expert understanding of European short-term energy markets (day-ahead, intraday, and imbalance markets).

  • Project experience in setting up, validating, and analyzing flexibility optimization strategies, including backtesting.

  • Proficiency with the Python data stack (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, Jupyter).

  • Strong motivation to build flexibility optimization software products.

  • Excellent communication skills, with a good command of the English language.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating proactively with others in the company.

  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
