Power up our team

The Engineering Department at Dexter Energy is where the magic happens. Our team of talented engineers works tirelessly to build the foundation for creating AI software that predicts and optimizes renewable energy solutions.

It’s time to amp up your career

As an IT Engineer, you will join our talented Engineering department, and will be the first IT Engineer here at Dexter! You will have an amazing opportunity to build IT processes and systems from the ground up, while partnering with different teams at Dexter.

You will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our office IT systems, which encompass approximately 100 devices, including MacBooks and Windows systems. Designing and managing the office networks and Internet connectivity is part of the responsibilities. Taking the lead in this capacity, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of our IT infrastructure.

Your role extends beyond mere maintenance, as you will actively guide the organization in determining necessary hardware and software components, providing insights into why certain choices are preferable over others, and potentially steering us away from unnecessary vendor engagements.

A key aspect of your responsibilities will involve the day-to-day troubleshooting of laptops and systems, ensuring smooth operations for all employees. You will be the go-to person for addressing issues with MacBooks and other devices, offering solutions promptly. Additionally, you will be instrumental in tracking all hardware, particularly as the organization considers leasing all equipment. This includes overseeing the ordering process and making informed decisions in case of broken hardware, applying your troubleshooting skills and deciding on appropriate actions.

Furthermore, your role encompasses a critical focus on security, requiring you to ensure that all devices are up-to-date with patches, equipped with scanners, and have encrypted disks. Your expertise will be crucial in determining the necessary software for maintaining this level of security. Additionally, you will take charge of Google Workspace management, including user and group management, as well as overseeing the Google Work Suite components such as Gmail, Google Drive, and Docs. Your proactive approach and leadership in these areas will not only strengthen our IT systems but also contribute significantly to the overall efficiency of our organization.

Your collaborative efforts will extend to working closely with various teams across the business, and you will report directly to Jan, Engineering Manager of our Infrastructure team. This role offers a unique opportunity for someone to bring their expertise and strategic guidance to shape the future of our IT landscape.

To be successful in this role, you should be excited to join a company that is working towards a cleaner energy future. You should thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and be motivated to keep learning new things. You should care deeply about writing great software, following the latest best practices in terms of implementation details, documentation, and automated testing.
